What else can I do to keep my dog cool?
We live in Western Sydney and the temperatures soar! During some of the day I bring him inside under the fans and air con, but he likes to spend time outside too. When he's outside though, he pants rapidly and gets lethargic after a few minutes of running.
He's a little Maltese x Pomeranian and we try and keep him cut short in the summer to help with the heat. We also have a plastic shell pool out there for him and two water bowls with ice in them - he just doesn't seem interested in them. Plus the pool water gets warm quite quickly and he isn't a fan of getting wet anyway. We've also ordered one of those cooling bandannas for him, but don't know how well they'll work.
I just feel terrible having him so hot outside, is there anything else that we can try to keep him cool? Please?
Thank you!
I bought a hyperkewl dog cooling vest off ebay for my golden retriever. Even on really hot days you can reach under the vest and it is still cool underneath. Just search on ebay Australia for “hyperkewl dog”. I think you can get dog pads as well (that they lay on) which might be the best option for you.
