Great Gas Milage With The Saturn Vue Hybrid
General Motors launched their green line with the Saturn Vue Hybrid aiming to cover wider sectors of the market by setting a lower price. According to the manufacturer, the design is actually the best economical hybrid car in its category. An engine distinguishing feature is the fuel gasoline feeding with a generator used instead of an alternator to send gas to the engine. The gap between the Saturn Vue Hybrid and other hybrid cars is that the car can't work autonomously by using electricity only. The power device in the hybrid dual-mode is not available just yet, and will be present with the car dealers in 2009.
Another future project that General Motors aims to accomplish on the basis of their Saturn Vue Hybrid is the plug-in hybrid, but the design of such a prototype is closely related to the availability of the lithium-ion batteries. Presently, a car running on similar batteries is in the test phase, while the Saturn Vue Hybrid remains to take full advantage of its market success. Ill speakers say that the hybrid model remains a trick used by those from General Motors as a masque for the lack of environmental concern.
Saturn Vue Hybrid uses a “belt alternator starter” according to General Motors, in a system that relies on a large electric motor that is linked to the crankshaft by means of a special drive belt, all being possible thanks to an improved automatic transmission. The engine starts and stops automatically, but not in a “start-stop” system, with the electric power contributing to the acceleration force as well. Like with all the other hybrid models, Saturn Vue Hybrid recharges the battery by regenerating the braking juice and storing it.
If compared to the regular gas-fueled vehicles, the Saturn Vue Hybrid reduces around 20% of the regular fuel consumed. Several types of the Saturn Vue Hybrid have been promoted with a growing improvement when it comes to acceleration times and standard speed per hour from one model to another. A careful analysis of the technical features of the designs together with the fuel consume and the gains you've got from the hybrid function should be conclusive for any purchase. If you are willing to wait a little further, and you are not pressed to buy a auto right away, you could stay until the new Saturn Vue Hybrid with plug in design is launched in 2009.
I have a question about the 2011 Hyundai Sonata & it's GDI Engine...?
Ok, I think the 2011 Hyundai Sonata is AWESOME! However, I never understood why it's idling sound is very rough & load. But somebody told me that it's idling sound is normal because GDI Engines always have a rough load sound like that. (GDI stands for Gas Direct Injection) Gas Direct Injection Engine. So are Gas Direct Injection suppose to have a rough idling sound like that? (You can here the sound of it in 4:10 sec of this Youtube video)
I have a 2011 Sonata SE and I have the slightly higher noise at idle but why worry about it.I haven't noticed any roughness at idle. As far as someone saying it's not balance and not high preformance, bullshit! It's balanced very nicely and preformance is awesome! I have just over 4000 miles on mine and at 80mph you can press it down to catch another gear with the 6speed auto and in no time you are doing well over 100mph. I've had mine up to 115mph and believe me, it still has plenty left! It may not make the 160 on the speedo but I will bet big money it will make 140!
I do notice engine and road noise with the low profile tires and but it's not really noticeable at cruise speed of 80, which is what I set my cruise on.
I guess those that don't believe what the New Sonata is like, go drive it and you will damn sure change your mind about it!
What can make a dent? (MIT)
_With the world's energy needs growing rapidly, can zero-carbon energy options
be scaled up enough to make a significant difference? How much of a dent can
these alternatives make in the world's total energy usage over the next half-
century? As the MIT Energy Initiative approaches its fifth anniversary next
month, this five-part series takes a broad view of the likely scalable energy
candidates._
At any given moment, the world is consuming about 14 terawatts (trillions of
watts) of energy — everything from the fuel for our cars and trucks, to wood
burned to cook dinner, to coal burned to provide the electricity for our
lights, air conditioners and gadgets.
What's a watt?
Watts are a measure of the amount of power used at a given instant, for
example a typical light bulb uses 60 watts for as long as it's on. If you
leave the bulb on for an hour, it will have used 60 watt-hours, a measure of
energy consumption.
To put those 14,000,000,000,000 watts in perspective, an average person
working at manual labor eight hours a day can expend energy at a sustained
rate of about 100 watts. But the average American consumes energy ...
